Education Support Project for Children with Disabilities (ESPCD) Fund
In 2018 ESPCD Fund plans to provide special scholarships for 35 students with disabilities from 13 provinces in Thailand. All of them use wheelchairs and other assistive devices to go to primary school, high school, technical college and university, and study hard to become independent in the future. June 2018: WAFCAT team visited some students to interview them for their needs at school and daily living. Here is one of the stories of the 35 scholarship students;
Inthira Butnampet (Jeehan), 7-year-old-girl, lives with her grandparents, uncle (intellectual disability), and younger brother in Chacheongsao. She received a new wheelchair from WAFCAT (Masaoka Fund) in December 2017. Her parents were divorced and both don’t pay attention to Jeehan, so the family income depends only on social welfare.
In June 2018, Jeehan entered Chonburi Special Education School. Now, she is away from home and stay at a dormitory. Every 2 weeks, her grandmother is supposed to pick her up to be back home during weekends, but the grandmother doesn’t have enough money for traveling. So, WAFCAT plans to support scholarship to her as traveling expenses. WAFCAT also takes care of her wheelchair follow-up and maintenance to be able to fit her body and help her study.
