Japanese Youth Volunteer Program in Thailand (August 20 -21, 2018)
Wakayama University ASEAN Project (WAP) – Transition to Inclusive Education and Society (TIES) 15 members with Thepsatri Rajabhat University - Lopburi Japanese Department students visited Ayutthaya and Saraburi Special Education Centers for volunteer activities for children with disabilities.
WAP-TIES is a student association of Wakayama University. They raised funds by a charity futsal tournament in Japan and donated 8 wheelchairs for children with disabilities in Ayutthaya The students also learned about ‘wheelchair fitting’ from our physio therapist, and they worked in a team to adjust the wheelchairs by their own hand.
Ms. Nao Tsunematsu, a leader of the students says, “This time, we learned a lot about the current situation of wheelchair service and the needs of children with disabilities in Thailand. I would like to make a report to other members in Japan to improve TIES activity in the future.”
