Education Support Project for Children with Disabilities (ESPCD)

“Opportunity is like an ICE-CREAM. If you don’t eat it in time, it melts away soon.” This is the background of ICE-CREAM Camp, which was organized by WAFCAT between 21-27 October 2018 at the Redemptorist Foundation for People with Disabilities in Pattaya City, Choburi Province. There were 17 wheelchair students, WAFCAT’s scholarship students, joined the program.

During the camp, they learned to be INDEPENDENT by living together in a dormitory without teachers and parents support, and developed their CAPACITY and gain EXPERIENCE through many activities, such as visiting a university and a company that employs people with disabilities to work with ordinary people. Moreover, the participants learned to work in COOPERATION and build a good RELATIONSHIP with others, and looked for their EXPECTATION of higher education and future career (goal) based on their own ABILITY and/or interest. Last but not least, they increased MOTIVATION by senior persons with disabilities who are already successful in education and professional careers.

This camp was sponsored by AIOI Bangkok Insurance PLC., and co-organized by Father Ray School for Children with Special Needs, 1479 Online of the Redemptorist Foundation for People with Disabilities, and Pattaya Redemptorist Technical College that supported staff, venue, transportation, facilities, etc. It was also supported by volunteers from DENSO (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Siam DENSO Manufacturing Co., Ltd., and AIOI Bangkok Insurance PLC., during the study programs outside. WAFCAT team really appreciates all the sponsors, supporters, and volunteers who made this camp very successful!
