Joint Program of the 18th WAFCA Friendship Tour & the 35th WAFCAT Friendship Caravan in Ratchaburi Province
(November 17, 2018)
Many Thai and Japanese volunteers worked together in the wheelchair maintenance service activity. This program was well supported by Association of Persons with Disabilities Wheelchair Workshop in Ratchaburi by collecting broken wheelchairs and necessary spare parts in advance. About 30 volunteers and 15 association staff fixed 62 wheelchairs on that day. No matter where you are, how old you are, whether you are physically disabled or not, we became one team that worked really hard towards the same goal: to help other persons with disabilities who waited for those wheelchairs to be repaired. In the evening, the volunteers also enjoyed Loy Krathong festival, having dinner together with some performances from Thailand and Japan at Ratchaburi Provincial Special Education Center.
Voice of Volunteer Mr. Toshifumi Omodaka / WAFCA Member & Tour Leader
“I think ‘wheelchair maintenance free service’ is like a signature volunteer activity of WAFCA, and it’s my favorite activity, too. I hope that WAFCA and WAFCAT will continue this volunteer activity for a long time in the future. And for the next time, let’s celebrate the 20th year anniversary of WAFCA & WAFCAT together in 2019!!”
