Hand-Over Ceremony of School Barrier-free Facility Improvement Project for Students with Disabilities in Chanthaburi Province
December 2017, WAFCAT donated new wheelchairs at Chanthaburi Special Education Center, and we met Thanakorn Robkob (his nickname is Tongkla) who came to receive one of the wheelchairs. He was wearing his school uniform because at that time he was in the 5th grade at Wat Plappla School.
Wheelchair Donation (December 2017)
A half year later in June 2018, WAFCAT team visited Wat Plappla School to meet Tongkla (6th grade) again, and interview him to become our new scholarship student. Tongkla was a very good student and wish to study and become an engineer in the future. Wat Plappla School didn’t have wheelchair assessable toilet and slope/ramps to toilet and classroom, so WAFCAT supported the necessary facilities with the budget of 60,000 baht in total.
Finally, in February 2019, we organized a hand-over ceremony at Wat Plappla School. The representatives from Sub-District Administrative Office, Special Education Center, DENSO, and WAFCAT attended the ceremony to celebrate the completion and recognize the importance of accessible environment and inclusive/special education for all.
