Wheelchair Service Provision to children with disabilities in Nakhon Ratchasima
4-6 March 2020, WAFCAT Team and volunteer from DENSO Worker Union Thailand went to provide the wheelchair service to children with disabilities in Nakhon Ratchasima with the collaboration from Special Education Center Area 11, Nakhon Ratchasima. We could proceed the activities based on WHO’s guideline on the wheelchair service provision in the less resource settings area which consists of body assessment, selecting appropriate wheelchair or assistive device, wheelchair fitting and training how to use it. There were 19 children got the service. 16 children came to get the service at Nakhon Ratchasima center. And WAFCAT visited other 3 children and provide wheelchairs to them at home because we would like to check their house environment and their daily living in the rural area in order to develop the quality of life for children with disabilities in the future. Thank you to all concern people very much!
“It is a very good activity to us who are a new physiotherapist teacher, since we could learn about wheelchair service to children from you. When we were students and got interned at the hospital, we were rarely to get the experience of this kind of job.”, said a Physiotherapist teacher.
