Wheelchair Follow-up of Children with Disabilities
In the year 2019, WAFCAT donated 157 wheelchairs to children with disabilities in 21 provinces of Thailand as shown in below graph.
In May 2020, WAFCAT followed-up with them by sending a questionnaire to all of them. Then we talked with their teachers and parents on the phone or LINE Video Call to ask more details in the development of each child. We found that many of the children showed a better development both physically and emotionally. Some parents say they are happier because the wheelchair make them easier to take care of their children. They have more time to work, so they are very satisfied with our wheelchair service.
For example, Nutthaporn Lohkham or Arnut, a boy from Amnatcharoen province received a posterior walker in May 2019. A walker was the best option because he could stand up by holding something. He regularly practiced walking with the walker at home and Special Education Center of Amnatcharoen for 1 year. Now, he can walk 4 to 5 steps on his own feet, so we are very confident that he will be able to walk better in the future if he keeps practicing. Let’s cheer him up!
