      Wheelchair Service Provision in the First Quarter of Fiscal Year 2021

               Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, WAFCAT staffs could not go to visit children with disabilities in the community to directly provide wheelchair services, so WAFCAT worked with the local partners, which were Provincial Special Education Centers (SECs). We provided a training for ‘physical therapist’ teachers to learn the steps of wheelchair assessment and fitting by online. Then WAFCAT delivered wheelchairs and additional materials to the target SECs. After that, the physical therapist teachers went to provide wheelchairs to the target children at home. WAFCAT’s staff monitored and gave consultation to the teachers by online at any time they needed. We really appreciate for a good cooperation from all provincial SECs that helped us support children with disabilities even in the difficult situation we have been through now.
