Dream Wanisa Chitpanya A student from Rajabhat Ubon Ratchathani University, one of the WAFCAT scholarship students. Today, Dream graduated. Going to graduate in the coming months Dream and her family are enjoying a very important day in their life: graduation. Of course, before reaching this point Dream had to overcome many obstacles to reach this point. That is why today we are here to sit and talk with Dream.
First of all. Congratulation to you. Introduce yourself for us please.
Thank you, Dream. Wanisa Jitpanya is now 24 years old. I became disabled when I was 11 years old because I had a high fever and slept for a week. When I feel that I have recovered, I cannot try to support myself anymore. After that, his body began to weaken more and more. Until finally unable to support himself From what I used to support myself, now I can't support myself at all. After that, I stopped studying altogether and came back to study again, which is during the 9th grade, that is, I skipped the class. While not studying, the teacher took me to some academic competitions, whether it was drawing, calligraphy, storytelling. I was able to win gold every time. Teacher and friends Come to visit sometimes, but I admit that I feel a little hurt why I didn't go for a run like my friends.
Why you became to a scholarship ?
I'm not sure how I came to be a scholarship student at that time. But at that time I couldn't walk anymore. It was the time when I was about to enter grade 5 and now a teacher came and told me that there was a foundation that was accepting scholarship students and would give wheelchairs. The school handled the case and applied for a wheelchair as well. At that time, I remember receiving a wheelchair and Khun Pinai was the one who gave it to me. Probably around '08-09.
What does WAFCAT support ?
The first thing that the foundation supports is wheelchairs. Then it will be a fund for education, about 3,000 baht, and during the Vocational and High Vocational Certificate, it will be the cost of learning materials and the dormitory during the internship period with the Wafcat Foundation in Denso. During college, it will be dormitory and transportation fees. During my internship with the foundation The Foundation allocates a shuttle bus to the dormitory. For other activities The foundation has given me the opportunity to go on a field trip to Japan. Got to share experiences There and learned something new abroad. The foundation gave me the opportunity to train as a leader, whether it was organizing camps, ceremonies, activities. and gave me the position of chairman of the elder Help younger project
Of course, you will encounter obstacles. How did you get past it?
The first obstacle that I encountered was life. Well, I've never sat in a wheelchair. Most of the time, if at home, I sit and sliding on the floor. When I got the wheelchair, I had to adjust how to use the wheelchair. During the first toilet training There was an accident that happened, which was the toilet flushing. In terms of studying, there is an obstacle that is not able to catch up with friends because I have stopped studying for a long time. I have to follow back to see if these subjects in previous years how does it learn and revisit the lesson backwards But when I arrived during the Vocational and High Vocational , I began to help myself more. And socializing with friends, teachers and people around me is getting better and better. People around me understand and help me. Keep supporting what I need to help. Considered very lucky to meet a good society. For example, during the university period, sometimes I have to do some activities on the upper floors of the building, my friends will help me to pick up and lift the wheelchair for me. What made me overcome obstacles was that I felt that I was like a normal person. There may be flaws, but first I'm confident in myself that I can do it. And the people around are waiting to support. So it helps to be able to overcome obstacles.
How do you feel after graduate ?
The first feeling that I felt was “Did I really graduate?” (Laughs) Well, it's very fast. And I still sit and think that it's really over, right? Well, I'm glad. And then it's proud of myself. I didn't think I could reach this point. From a kid who sits at home and doesn't know where to go, today I'm graduated. I felt that I made the right decision that I dared to come out and meet the outside world that day. From a stubborn kid whose mother thought I couldn't do it but I thought I could do it. I'm glad to see my mom and family smiling happily when I put on my graduation gown.
Do you want to thank WAFCAT ?
First of all, I would like to thank the WAFCAT for helping and being a small spark. give a handicapped child has stepped forward to fight and open the world to children with disabilities and many scholarship students. I want the foundation to fulfill the dreams of the next generation. I have promised to help fulfill the dreams and take care of the next generation.
Last question. How about your future ?
My first goal is to have a job. take care of myrself raising a family I want to have a house and I want to have a car. Another thing that I intended is to have a project with the WAFCAT to help children. who felt that they had lost their inspiration and encouraged them to come back and fight again It doesn't have to be a disabled child to be a normal child.
